Could This Lead to a Claim?
Most clinicians can spot an obvious risk.
The challenge is recognizing the situations that don't look risky at first.
As a provider of professional liability insurance for mental health professionals, we've seen claims arise from circumstances that surprise even experienced practitioners.
We created a short, 2-minute quiz featuring five real-world scenarios.
This quiz was inspired by questions we frequently hear from mental health professionals about professional liability and claims.
Can you get all five right?

Why Visibility Matters in Private Practice (and What You Can Do About It)
By Kari Groff MD - Co-founder, The Link Newsletter
One of the biggest shifts happening in private practice right now is that visibility (standing out as a professional) seems to require more effort than it used to.
Many years ago, you could hang a sign outside a brownstone or leave business cards at a neighborhood café (I remember doing exactly that!). Later, many clinicians built websites and joined directories (I resisted creating a website for years). Referrals often continued steadily through word of mouth in neighborhoods like Park Slope or the Upper West Side because the supply and demand balance was different. Online therapy was not widely available, insurance-based clinicians were harder to find, and many therapists built successful out-of-network practices that ran smoothly for years through local reputation and word of mouth alone. Cue nostalgia!
Today, things are different.
